Jeal Jean Baptiste is a U.S. Navy Reservist leading Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) training efforts within USSOUTHCOM assisting U.S. government stakeholders and partner nations build out their WPS training programs. Jael is a young advocate for women and girls and is currently a college student pursuing her degree in international affairs. She is also a security officer managing documentation protocols for a community centered site. She grew up in Miami, Florida within a multicultural household surrounded by a big family and learned early on that giving back to your community is important. Her journey started out as a youth activist for PowerU focused on bringing awareness to the disproportionate lack of resources in impoverished schools and communities. She went on to become a mentor as a pageant queen to inspire and demonstrate to young girls everywhere that loving yourself first will set the precedent on how you go through life. She continues to lead by example volunteering with the Princess Essence Tea pageant program, emboldening young girls to set goals to accomplish their dreams tackling them one by one. Jael brings this passion to the any mission she is part of ensuring that the principles of inclusion and self-worth are paramount.
